General information
Communication Studies is a cooperative program offered by Huntington University, Laurentian University and Cambrian College. It was established through an articulation agreement among the three institutions. Its purpose is to provide students with a broad introduction to the field of communications, along with focussed professional study in a specific communications field. A unique feature of the program allows students to include a cultural or native studies component. Students have the opportunity to focus on one specific area in fourth year (journalism, public relations or advertising).
Graduates of Communication Studies will be literate in matters of contemporary communications theory and technology, cultural sensitivity and ethical reflection, and will have both a theoretical and a practical knowledge of a defined potential career field in journalism, public relations or advertising.
Program
Students must complete the equivalent of four years of full-time study to obtain the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. They carry out the first three years at Laurentian University, and the fourth year at Cambrian College in Sudbury.

Graduates of the Public Relations Diploma program may qualify for the degree after completing 36 credits.
Students who complete a minimum of 60 credits at Laurentian University with a minimum average of 70% and who have achieved the equivalent average at Cambrian College will be eligible for a B.A. (Honours) designation.
