Biologist for environmental screening

An upgrade of a small hydroelectric plant in Charlton,Ontario is planned; the hydroelectric plant is on the Englehart River, north of North Bay, south east of Timmins.  The capacity of the plant will be increased by more than 25% and will therefore require an environmental screening.

To increase its capacity, 2 turbines will be added in already existing bays inside the power house.  This upgrade was planned ahead when the powerhouse was built in 1991, thus no modifications are required to the building, penstock, dams, etc.  Very minor work is required at the water intake to improve the water flow.  Also the water flows and levels specified in the recently approved Water Management Plan are still appropriate and this upgrade will not affect the flow or level on the Englehart River.

It is likely that we will need a biologist expertise for the environmental screening.  Biologists from Laurentian University are well known for their expertise in aquatic ecology/biology and we are looking for an interested biologist in the Sudbury/Timmins or North Bay area.
