  "If you wish to study on a part-time basis, apply for admission directly to Laurentian University.

If you want to study on a full-time basis during the Winter Session (if over 21 credits, including all Envision courses), you must apply to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre.

All students are considered part-time for admission purposes during Spring Session."

Applying as a Mature Student

The University considers for admission as mature students persons whose previous school performance and/or work record suggest a strong possibility of academic success. Depending on the program, the Office of Admissions may require that specific course(s) be included in the mature student's first year of study. You must meet the full criteria of this category as listed below:

  • You do not have Grade 13, OAC or 4U/M courses (or Grade 12 from outside of Ontario).
  • You did not attend any post secondary institution.
  • You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • You are 21 years of age by December 31 of the year of admission.
  • You have been away from formal education for at least one year prior to beginning university studies.

  • letter outlining reasons for pursuing university studies
  • resumé
  • Admission form and $40 payment

Applying as a Transfer Student

  • You have a college diploma or have completed one year of college studies.
  • You have completed some university courses.

(You may be able to transfer credits from another university or college of applied arts and technology but we cannot make decisions until you apply for admission and submit official transcripts.)

Documents required

  • official transcript(s) from high school, college, and/or university attended
  • Admission form and $40 payment

Applying as a High School Graduate

  • You have the required six Grade 13, or six OAC, or six 4U/M courses. Refer to the full-time calendar for full details.
  • You have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent from another province.

Documents required

Applying to the B.Sc.N Program at a Distance

  • You hold a Registered Nurses' Certificate.

Documents required

  • Renewal/proof of payment of your registration
  • official transcripts from all post secondary institutions attended for possible advanced standing
  • Admission form and $40 payment

Applying on a Letter of Permission

  • You want to take a course at Laurentian University to apply towards your degree at another university. It is your responsibility to arrange with your home university for the letter of permission. Upon successful completion of , your course, you must request an official transcript ($7 + GST) each from the Office of the Registrar who will then send it to your university.

Applying for a Second Degree, or Qualifying Year Program (non-Laurentian Graduate)

  • You have a degree from another university.

Documents required

  • official transcript(s) from all universities attended
  • Admission form and $40 payment

Applying as a Non-degree Student (University Graduate)

  • You have a degree from another university.

Documents required

Applying for Re-admission (Laurentian Graduate)

  • You have not registered at Laurentian since Fall/Winter Session 2008-2009 or earlier.
  • You attended another post secondary institution since your last registration at Laurentian University.
  • You have a Laurentian University degree and wish to obtain a qualifying year, a second degree, or continue as a non-degree student.

Documents required

  • official transcript(s) from all universities/colleges attended, except for Laurentian University
  • Admission form and $10 payment

A decision on your application for admission/readmission may not be made until all required official documents have been received. You are not officially registered until you are admitted to Laurentian.

A transcript is an official record of academic work taken at an educational institution, bearing the seal and a signature of the issuing institution. We cannot accept a photocopy of a transcript.
