Research and Seminar in Chemistry

Course Details:
1. In your first year as a graduate student you are required to give a seminar on a topic not directly related to your research. Your research supervisor needs to be in agreement with your chosen topic.
2. In your second year as a graduate student you are required to give a seminar on the results/progress of your research.
3. You are required to attend at least 80% of all seminars given by your fellow graduate students, invited speakers, and faculty members in order to pass this course. An attendance sheet will be circulated before each seminar, which you will need to sign.
4. Finally, you will not receive a numeric mark for this course. Instead, grades of either S (for satisfactory) or F (failed - which hopefully won't happen) will be assigned.

· Student seminars begin on January 11, 2012.
· Recall that students in their first year will give a presentation on a topic not directly related to their research and students in their second year will give a presentation on the results/progress of their research.
· All seminars are to be 45 min in length with 10 – 15 min of questions from the audience.
· Please submit your title and abstract to me at least 1 week before your talk.
· All seminars will be held between 4:00pm and 5:00 p.m. in room S-217.
