Admission Requirements

The main academic requirement for admission to graduate studies in business at Laurentian is an undergraduate degree in any field from a university recognized and approved by the School of Graduate Studies. Admission to the MBA program is limited to 35 new entrants per year.

Entry to the program normally occurs in September. Application deadline is March 31. Should any of the 35 positions be vacant after the March 31 deadline, applications will continue to be accepted up until August 1 for September admission.

The Graduate Admissions Committee of the university requires the following from each candidate:

2. official transcripts from the candidate’s undergraduate institution and from any certification program;

3. two letters of reference, at least one of which must attest to the candidate having a minimum of two years of full-time work experience after an undergraduate degree at a significant level of responsibility;

4. the candidate’s score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). While the GMAT is optional, candidates may submit a GMAT score to strengthen their application;

5. For candidates whose first language is other than English, the results of an English proficiency test.  If you have completed 3 years or more full-time senior level studies in an English language secondary school or post-secondary institution, an English proficiency test is not required.

6. Candidates must have successfully completed a quantitative course in his/her undergraduate program or scored in the 60th percentile or higher on the quantitative component of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).

As a guideline to applicants, the Admissions Committee normally considers the following performance profile as suitable for admission to the MBA program: a 4-year undergraduate degree with B (upper second division) standing and at least two years relevant full-time work experience at a significant level of responsibility.

The university is prepared to admit a small number of mature and accomplished students who do not possess an undergraduate degree. Contact the MBA coordinator for details.
