Things to bring with you
This is a field course. We will be out in the sun and rain and travelling and sampling for extended periods by foot, and by water (boats, canoes) and you should assume that you will often get wet and grimy. Bring suitable clothes (see below) and a sense of humour. We will also be doing some non-technical climbing in Killarney Park and will be on remote trails (10km fun hikes) at all hours of the day and night. Bring good walking shoes (with good treads) or hiking boots with you, and to avoid blisters, make sure they are well broken in.
If you have any special medical needs, ensure you have them with you. If you have any allergies, e.g. to bee stings, please ensure that you inform the course directors, and bring appropriate medication.
Bring:
-Certified cheque or money order for $650 (remaining course fee) made out to Laurentian University.
-Emergency contact information (name and contact information for next of kin)
-Back pack (day trips)
- Rain gear and clothing for field work –light long sleeves and pants
-Spare clothes, warm clothes etc.
- walking or hiking shoes, extra ‘camp shoes’
-notebook, pencils, pens
-calculator
-laptop (optional); camera (optional)
-hat, sunblock, insect repellent, and sunglasses
-bathing suit and towel
-alarm clock
-medication
-sleeping bag (required), tent*, sleeping pad*, and pillow (optional)
-snacks (days will be long and access to town will be limited)
-flashlight with extra batteries
-laundry kit (detergent/soap, small line, 4-6 clothespins)
-Toilet kit
-guitars or other musical instruments
-water resistant watch
-bring enough cash for 2 evening meals and desired refreshments and snacks during recreational visits to the village of Killarney
*The Co-op Unit has a limited number of extra tents and sleeping pads. Please request one if necessary.

-jewellery, expensive electronics, alcohol or narcotics
