The Next 50 Campaign Terry MacGibbon, Campaign Chair

Laurentian University is at a turning point in its history. In line with its ambition and its challenges, Laurentian has developed a bold strategic plan – a blueprint for the future. The plan calls for continued innovation to meet the specific needs of our community – in mining and resource development, environmental restoration and stewardship, rural health and education.

Building on a solid undergraduate education foundation, five decades of history and unparalleled strengths, Laurentian is poised to emerge as a leader in key areas of focus with the ability to transfer new knowledge and innovations to a broader global context. The extension of the university’s mandate to include graduate programs has greatly enhanced the institution’s research capacity.

Underpinning the strategic plan is a $50 million fundraising campaign which will enable the university to effectively deliver on its mission in the years ahead. This campaign, an integral component of Laurentian’s strategic plan, will enable the university to advance its unique position as the centre for learning in northern Ontario, for the north and beyond.

"I am honoured to accept this important position and to be a part of the development of a university that I believe is on the cusp of greatness."
