Master's Programs
This interdisciplinary program was developed in consultation with industry and admits students with engineering and science degrees. The program provides continuing and advanced education to practicing engineers and scientists who wish to continue their employment, and also to recently graduates who wish to pursue a Master's degree on a full-time basis.
The program offers the degrees of Master of Engineering (M.Eng) and Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.).
The M.Eng. degree requires course work and an industrial project, whilst the M.A.Sc. degree involves course work and a thesis, and can, subject to satisfactory performance and funding lead to PhD studies .
The interests of the chemical, mechanical and mining engineering faculty at Laurentian are very extensive and when considering what industrial project or thesis topic to select, you are encouraged to look at their individual pages, and contact them directly to discuss opportunities.
Course delivery consists of short intensive courses, as well as evening and day courses.
Admission Requirements for Master's Degree
For the admission to the M.Eng. or the M.A.Sc. degree program, a candidate normally holds a bachelor’s degree with a B standing (or 70% average) in Mining, Mineral Processing, Metallurgical, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or other appropriate branches of engineering. Candidates who hold an Honors B.Sc. in Chemistry, Geology, Physics or another appropriate discipline are considered for admission to the master's program. However, before being admitted to this program, such candidates may be required to successfully complete some qualifying courses drawn from the undergraduate engineering curriculum.
