Newfoundland’s NDP Speech
Speech by Orsi Szotyori, Law and Justice (Orillia Campus)
Mr. Speaker, members of the House and fellow cabinet members, I support working people, families and the labour movement and I believe that the best way to see change happen is by uplifting and granting opportunities to the majority of working Canadian people. There is something broken with our system when everyday hard working Canadian citizens are being denied the support and avenues for betterment from their government, while the government finds ways to support and further the agendas of the wealthy. The gaps between rich, average and poor Canadians are widening everyday; and without drastic measures, the poor will continue to be marginalized.
The best way to see change, is to teach our youth that education is the ticket to not only a better personal life, but to a better Canadian future. In Newfoundland, one of my goals is to have free tuition for public post-secondary education. Our youth are our future, and we need to uplift them and empower them to achieve a career in all the avenues of labour. Let’s uplift and educate our future so that Canada can be a prosperous country for all, not just for some.
Thank You.
