Quick facts
- It is the largest centre in Northeastern Ontario with 165,000 people.
- It is bilingual and highly multicultural
- It is one of the sunniest areas in Ontario according to weather records.
Things to do:
- Sports and outdoor activities include swimming, hiking, cycling, golfing, cross-country skiing, to name a few.
- There are many trails easily accessed from campus, and an on-campus beach!
- Sudbury contains many municipal parks. One of the most popular is Bell Park, located right around the shore of Lake Ramsey.
- Sudbury is home to Cinefest, an international film festival. It is one of Canada's largest festivals.
- Sudbury also hosts many events throughout the year such as the blueberry festival, the garlic festival, festival of trees, festival of lights and an entire pride week.
- There is a great Farmer's Market to attend in downtown Sudbury on the week-ends from May to December.
Places to go:
- Sudbury has many restaurants from your local favorites such as Respect is Burning, Laughing Buda, Buzzy Brown's and Sapporo Ichibang. To your old loves such as East Side Mario's, Kelseys, Casey's, Boston Pizza, Montana's, and Pizza Hut.
- There are four main shopping malls in Sudbury: The New Sudbury Centre, Southridge Mall, Sudbury Supermall, and the Rainbow Centre.
- Sudbury also has your favorite big box stores such as Old Navy, Chapters, Staples, Home Depot, Winners, and Homesense.
- Science North is a great place to visit. You can go see an IMAX film or simply go and explore throughout the day.
- Visitors should also visit Dynamic Earth and the Big Nickel.
