RESEARCH:
My doctoral thesis examined the role of the bone marrow in supporting and driving asthma. I was also involved in clinical trials examining the efficacy of new and old therapies in both allergic and exercise-induced asthma.
Currently, I am interested in occupational air pollutants and their detrimental effects on health; targeting the lung as a portal. I am specifically interested in the following:
1) The role of diesel exhaust particles in inducing inflammatory responses within the lungs and vascular system
2) Therapies which could prevent airway and vascular inflammation
3) The use of sputum induction to better diagnose and manage occupational airway diseases
