All positions at Laurentian University are paid according to the compensation policy which covers them. Positions are evaluated according to the Job Evaluation Plan and / or collective agreement covering the position. This ensures compliance with the Ontario Pay Equity Act and other relevant legislation. More importantly, it ensures that employee compensation is fair, consistent, and based on the content and complexity of the job.

Guidelines for preparation of position description  

Laurentian University and the LUSU bargaining unit agreed in 1985 to implement a job evaluation system which would be jointly administered by both parties. While the University has the right to decide what work is required of an employee, and to maintain the job descriptions for a position, a Joint Job Evaluation Committee, comprising two members from the University and two members from the Union, evaluate all positions within this bargaining unit.
