We presently teach programs in Communication Studies, Ethics, Gerontology, and Religious Studies. Our faculty also contribute to Laurentian University's Master of Arts Program in the Humanities. All of these degrees are conferred by Laurentian University.
Our tradition of distance education is reflected in offering a three-year Bachelor of Arts degrees in Religious Studies and Gerontology, and a Certificate Program in Gerontology. (The latter are all Laurentian degree programs.) Huntington University also offers its own Bachelor of Theology degree in distance education, as well as the MA in Pastoral Counseling.
Our Centre for the Study of Aging contributes to research at Laurentian University. Our Centre for Holistic Health reflects our heritage with The United Church of Canada. We also provide counseling and chaplaincy services for our students.
We moved in 1964 from downtown Sudbury to the Laurentian University campus, where a residence/administration building was built. This was to have been followed by a teaching/classroom building. In the intervening years, classes have been taught in the residence building, with two portables added to accommodate the enrolment.
The J.W. Tate Library (named after Joseph Walter Tate, a founding member of the Board of Regents) was built in 1972. Lautenslager Hall (named after Huntington's first president, and also known as the Social Centre) was added in 1976. Our residence consists of co-educational space for 167 Laurentian University students in 21 single and 73 double bedrooms. Residence facilities have separate floor and washroom areas for women and men who share common cooking areas. All of the rooms have telephone and Internet access. The Dean of Residence, Residence Supervisor, and student proctors (or dons) support and oversee residence life and services.
Our presidents have been Rev. Dr. Earl S. Lautenslager (1960-63), Rev. Dr. Ed Newbery (1963-68), Rev. Dr. Emlyn Davies, (1968-72), Rev. Dr. Ludo J. Winckel (1972-88), Dr. Kenneth G. MacQueen (1989-2001), Rev. Dr. Christopher Levan (2001-02), Rev. Douglas S. Joblin (2002-06), and Dr. Kevin R. McCormick (2006- ).
