Since its foundation in 1987, Boojum Research Ltd has developed passive, ecologically-sustainable approaches to mine decommissioning and remediation. Boojum has designed, implemented, and monitored the remediation of mine sites around the world. As scientists and engineers, we are primarily concerned with the principles by which ecological systems sequester contaminants, reduce acidity and regain vitality. Boojum technologies assist these ecological systems through appropriate inputs of energy and materials. In keeping with the principles of ecological engineering, we have endeavored, in all of our projects, to develop solutions that are environmentally sustainable, economic and effective over the long-term.

A summary of the collaboration between Boojum Research and the Mining Environment Database can be found at Boojum Research Virtual Library.  Instructions for accessing the full text of Boojum’s digitized reports are available at Project Map/Indexes .

Margarete Kalin, founder and president of Boojum Research, would like to thank the
teams of Boojum Ltd and the J.N. Desmarais Library who made this project possible, and the many mining companies, organizations and research programs who supported the company's work.
