Access to CISTI Source to End
March 17, 2009

Because the current federal budget has reduced the allocation to CISTI (Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information) by 70%, a cut which has resulted in the loss of 25 positions, CISTI will be discontinuing CISTI Source.

CISTI Source is an account-based system that delivers paper copies of articles via the J.N. Desmarais Library.

Laurentian University's access to the CISTI Source article ordering service will end when our site license expires on March 31, 2009. At that time, all current CISTI Source accounts will be cancelled.

Fortunately, Laurentian is now in a position to supply articles through its Interlibrary Loans (RACER) service. Like CISTI Source, RACER is a free and very quick delivery system but it has the advantage over CISTI Source that articles are emailed directly to requestors.
