Communications Security Establishment Canada

Cybersecurity Analysts

The Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC), Canada's national cryptologic agency, is mandated to provide both a service of signals intelligence to meet the government's intelligence requirements and the means to ensure the security of the federal government's information infrastructures.

CSEC offers a dynamic and stimulating work environment where specialists from diverse backgrounds come together to advance Canada’s national security interests. Working at CSEC means an opportunity to collaborate with experts in computer science, engineering, and mathematics in addressing Canada’s most pressing security challenges.

Cybersecurity analysts have a detailed understanding of fundamental Internet protocols, architecture, and security considerations. They are responsible for the precise analysis and careful interpretation of technical information on cyber security threats to Canada.

Programmer/Developer

Computer scientists at CSEC develop systems for various fields of operations, including cryptanalysis, engineering support, office automation, communications security and other communications-related areas.

CSEC's mandate also includes computer security, particularly with regard to the establishment of guidelines for software development. The computer scientists utilize a variety of computer systems including SUN, HP and IBM servers, personal computers, DEC systems, and state-of-the-art computers such as the Cray.
