Mathematics Degrees

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers various options for specialization, major, concentration, and minor in Mathematics 3 and 4 year degrees in either Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Sciences (B. Sc.). The options are listed below.

Difference between a B.A. and a B.Sc. Degree

The difference between a B.A. and a B.Sc. degree is in the selection of elective courses.

  • For a 3 year B.A. degree a student must take at least 36 credits in Humanities and Social Science courses.
  • For a 4 year B.A. degree a student must take at least 42 credits in Humanities and Social Science courses.
  • For a B.Sc. degree a student must take at least 18 credits from three different science subjects and at least 12 credits in Humanities and Social Science courses.
  • For a B.Sc. degree a student must include PHYS 1006, PHYS 1007, and CHMI 1006 (CHMI 1041 can be taken in place of CHMI 1006 for students without grade 12 4U Chemistry)
