What Can I Do With A Degree In Education?



The School of Education offers a four or five year Bachelor of Education program to be taken concurrently with a teachable undergraduate degree.  Two areas of concentration are available, a Primary/Junior division designed for teaching kindergarten to grade six and a Junior/Intermediate division for teaching grades four to ten.  Students who wish to teach at the Junior/Intermediate level must be an expert in two teachable subjects in the high school curriculum.  Programs are offered in French and English.  Please see the department link below for further program details and requirements.

Areas of employment

Conditional to the level of expertise in “teachable” subject material, graduates of the education program qualify for employment as primary and/or secondary school teachers.  However, further opportunities are available based on the degree taken alongside the Bachelor of Education.

Work prospects

Laurentian Education graduates have a 100% employment rate six months after entry into the workforce.  A high majority of these graduates find work as secondary and elementary school teachers and counselors.  Nationwide the average yearly earnings for those with an education degree is roughly $35,600.  However pay varies greatly with location, specialization, and level of experience.  Approximately 94% of graduates claim job satisfaction, while 91% would choose to make the same educational choice again.
