What Can I Do With A Degree In Law and Justice?



Laurentian offers a three and four year Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Justice.  The three year general B.A. may be taken as a single concentration or combined concentration; while the four year honors program may be taken as a single or combined specialization.  A certificate in Law and Justice is available to students in the Sciences, Professional Schools, or Arts who have completed their degree and wish to pursue further education in Law and Justice.  Some courses are offered in French.  Please visit the department link below for further details on programs and course descriptions.

Areas of employment

Laurentian graduates have found work in government, business, education, and the environment, as teachers, social workers, lawyers, probation officers, police officers, and more.  In Canada roughly 66% of graduates further their education in law until finding employment as judges, lawyers or notaries.  A minority find employment as paralegals and social services workers.

Work prospects

In Canada the average yearly earnings for those with an undergraduate degree in Law is approximately $50,600, 38% more than all university graduates at the bachelor's level. However salaries vary significantly according to area of specialization, location, and general work experience.  Approximately 91% of graduates claim job satisfaction, while 83% would choose to make the same education choice again.

Competition among new graduates is expected to be average with very little competition coming from graduates in other disciplines.
