What Can I Do With A Degree In Liberal Sciences?



The Liberal Science Program provides a broad based education in number of science subjects alongside an array of non-science disciplines.  The three year general program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree well suited for those who wish to study part time or through distance education.  Students are privy to considerable course flexibility as they gain an understanding of modern science in the context of a liberal education.  The program is offered in French and English.  Please see the department link below for further information.

Skills developed:

  • Ability to integrate the Arts and Sciences
  • Excellent communication skills (written, spoken, interpersonal, and presentation)
  • Logical, systematic, and creative thinking
  • Multidisciplinary knowledge (e.g. chemistry, geology, physics, & mathematics)
  • Strong research skills
  • Heightened ability to use and develop models to problem solve
  • Familiarity with statistical methods of analysis and related software
Areas of employment

Graduates of the Liberal Science program can expect employment in areas like technical writing, public relations, journalism, education, and law.  Laurentian graduates have found careers as teachers, professors, geologists, pharmacists, police officers,  health care professionals, and more.

Undergraduates qualify for employment in entry level positions in business, government, and the non profit sector.

Graduate studies are necessary for careers in law, counseling, ethics, medicine and related areas.

A Ph.D. is generally required for teaching at the university or college level
