
The department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers three and four year degrees leading to either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science. The three year programs are available in single or combined concentration. However, there is a specific program combining Mathematics and Computer Science. The four year programs are a single specialized concentration. An Honours Diploma is offered to students who wish to upgrade their degree from a three year to a four year honours. Areas of employment
Mathematics graduates qualify for employment in business and government in areas like computing, securities, banking, research, and education. Laurentian graduates have found careers as statisticians, researchers, teachers, programmers, and more. In Canada roughly 20% of graduates find employment as Secondary and Elementary School Teachers and Counselors.

Work prospects
In Canada the average rate of employment for undergraduates in mathematics is 91% two years after entry into the work force. In Canada the average yearly earnings for those with this degree is approximately $37,300. However pay varies greatly with location, specialization, and level of experience. Job satisfaction among graduates is roughly 92%, while 77% would choose to make the same educational choice again.
Work prospects are fair. Competition among new graduates is expected to be average with the majority of competition coming from other graduates in computer science, commerce, and business administration.
