What Can I Do With A Degree In Sport Psychology?



Offered by the School of Human Kinetics, this four year program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree.  Course work in Human Kinetics and Psychology is designed to introduce students to the field of Applied Sport Psychology and to provide a multidisciplinary understanding of athletic mental preparation.  The program requires an internship and student investigation.  Please see the department link below for further details on the program and course descriptions.

Skills developed:

  • Ability to council in areas of stress management, goal setting, confidence and more
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Experience with the scientific method, statistical methods, and related software
  • Internship and work experience
  • Knowledge of the physical, personal, and social relationships in the sport setting
  • Familiarity with psychological assessment protocols
  • Excellent communication skills; written, interpersonal, and presentation

Areas of employment

Graduates may enter a career in sport governing bodies and/or administration.  Professional opportunities are available in sports psychology, consultation, coaching, training, and education.
