A Biopsychosocial Approach to Disability

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:50 p.m. in C205
This interactive course is designed for senior students with an interest in disabilities. Applying a biopsychosocial approach, specific types of disabilities are discussed throughout the term, as well as issues around disability classification. Students will comprehend the etiology and epidemiology of various developmental disabilities in order to address potential medical and behavioural issues. Classes will involve lectures, discussion, group work, and applied activities.

The Psychology of Sleeping Behaviours
Taught by Dr. Glenn Legault
Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:50 p.m. in C301
An examination of the sleep processes undertaken by humans and other species. Topics include the neurobiology of sleep, circadian rhythms, dreaming, the cognitive functions served by sleep, and issues in human sleep medicine. While this course is primarily an experimental psychology course, much of the content is relevant to those intending to work in a clinical setting.
