School of Native Human Services Graduate Profile

School of Native Human Services Honours Bachelor of Social Work Graduates:

 

The first graduating class at the 1991 Convocation saw ten students receive the Honours B.S.W. Native Human Services Degree.  As of the November 2008 convocation ceremonies, there are a total of 207 graduates.  There is an approximate 70% employment rate for graduates from of this program.  Approximately fourty percent of the graduates have either completed or are currently completing MSW studies.  One graduate has successfully completed an MSW/LLB combination at the University of Toronto.   Three graduates are currently undertaking Doctoral studies. 

 

While other graduates have enhanced their career choices by furthering their education through:

Bachelor of Education (B. Ed)

Legal Studies (LLB)

Graduate Studies (MSW)

Post Graduate Studies (Ph. D)

 

Graduates are obtaining employment in the following areas;

 

·         Administration

·         Health Care

·         Child Welfare

·         Mental Health

·         Community Development

·         Policy Development

·         Direct Service Delivery

·         Education Training and Management

·         Provincial/Federal Corrections

·         Research & Development

 

 

Graduates are eligible to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers.

Graduates are eligible to apply to Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
