Diana Coholic, Ph.D., M.S.W., RSW Associate Professor
I am a practicing clinical social worker with 20 years of experience. In the School of Social Work, I teach practice theory and methods in the undergraduate and graduate programs. My research program is currently investigating the effectiveness of holistic arts-based group methods for the improvement of self-awareness and resilience in children and youth with high needs – this research is in collaboration with the Children’s Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin, and the Child and Family Centre, and is funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and the SickKids Foundation. Mindfulness-based practices are an important part of the group program. Along with my research team, I am invested in creatively disseminating the results of the research. We offer free annual training workshops for community-based practitioners, and with Dr. Hoi Cheu have produced a 20-minute instructional film for practitioners and students. |
