Department of Sociology

Students are advised to plan their program of study in consultation with an academic advisor. The course SOCI 1015 is prerequisite to most upper-year courses, unless it is waived by the department.  

Bachelor of Arts (general) in Sociology (3-year) - 90 credits

Concentration in Sociology (36 SOCI credits or 30 SOCI + 6 ANTR credits)

The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (3-year) can also be combined with a minor (24 credits) from another discipline. Students must consult with the academic advisor of each department.

1st year

SOCI 1015 E - Understanding Society* (6 cr)

*Minimum grade of 60% required

** Include 6 credits in Humanities and 6 credits in Sciences. Students that are planning to combine a minor should also include 6 credits in their minor requirements.

 

2nd year

SOCI 2016 E - Thinking Sociologically (3 cr)

SOCI 2017 E - Emergence of Sociological Theories (3 cr)
STAT 2126 E - Introduction to Statistics (3 cr)

SOCI 2127 E - Research Methods and Data Analysis* (3 cr)

3rd year

SOCI 3016 E - Modern Sociological Theories:  Manifestations and Issues (3 cr)
