Hi, my name is Earl Black and I'm the Special Needs Coordinator at Laurentian University. I'm here to assist you with your accommodations throughout your study period. We offer a variety of services which include financial assistance, counselling, and accommodations for any of your needs. I teach new and current students how to use the various software programs that can help compensate for any weakness that a student may have. Hello, my name is Barb Hein. My role as Learning Skills counsellor is to provide support and encouragement to the Special Needs students through skills training. I offer learning and study techniques for the topics listed below.
This year the Special Needs Office will be offering the support of a Learning Skills Strategist / Assistive Technologist. My name is Carla John and I am a Writing Specialist/Learning Strategist with Accessibility Services at Laurentian University. I am a former elementary and high school teacher and I began working with Accessibility Services in September 2010.
As a part-time Writing Specialist/Learning Strategist, I am here to help students with disabilities develop strategic approaches to learning in order to enhance their academic performance. My main focus is writing skills assistance, but in addition I offer support in the areas of study skills, memory techniques, note taking, test taking, and time management and organization.
I also arrange psycho-educational assessments for students in order to classify their learning disabilities and assess their learning needs.

As a full time bilingual learning strategist, I am here to help students with disabilities find appropriate strategies for the successful completion of their university degree. My name is Lance Cryderman. I am a part-time specialized tutor with Accessibility Services. I have been working in the department since 2008. Prior to taking this position, I completed my Honours B.A. in Psychology from Laurentian. Currently, I am pursing an MBA on a part-time basis.
In my role as a specialized tutor, I provide students registered with Accessibility Services support and clarification in many of their undergraduate psychology, statistics and research methods courses. In addition to providing assistance with some specific courses, I can also provide many general strategies for conducting high quality academic research necessary for a successful university career.
