BURSARIES

CONCURRENT EDUCATION

Students must submit completed bursary application forms to the Student Awards Office, 1st floor, R.D. Parker Building. A Bursary application forms can be printed using Adobe Acrobat. Unless otherwise, specified, only one bursary application forms is required for all bursaries.

Teachers’ Lions Club Bursary

  • Requirements: Established by the Teachers’ Lions Club, this bursary is awarded to aid a student of Laurentian University, who is full-time enrolled in the last year of the Bachelor of Education English Program, who has displayed a positive attitude to teaching, a willingness to assist fellow classmates, and exemplary volunteer, leadership and citizenship qualities.  The recipient must demonstrate financial needs, must be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP and be nominated by the School of Education, English Program.  Application required.

Noëlle Ladouceur Bursary

  • Requirements: Established by Noëlle Ladouceur, to provide financial assistance to one student enrolled in the “École des sciences de l’éducation, and to one student enrolled in the Baccalauréat en education - English”.  Application is required.
  • Value: $5,000

Dr. Patricia Falter Excellence in Teaching Award

  • Requirements:  Established by the School of Education, is awarded annually to a full time student with financial assistance completing in their Professional year of the BEd program at Laurentian University, the student must be recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers. The student may use the award to set up their first classroom.
  • Value is variable.  Application is required.

Elizabeth Bonk Memorial Bursary

  • Requirements: Established by family and friends, this award is to aid a student at the Laurentian University. This scholarship will be awarded to the Concurrent Education Student who demonstrates the qualities of academic success, critical reflection, creativity and compassion in the Initial Practicum. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Application is required.
  • Value: variable

Jeanne d’Arc Sullivan Memorial Bursary

  • Requirements: Established by family and friends. The purpose of this award is to provide financial assistance to a sole support parent studying at Laurentian University who is enrolled in the School of Education, (English program) or l’École des sciences de l’éducation. The bursary will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, and Ontario residency as defined by OSAP. Value is variable. Application is required.
