BURSARIES

HUMAN KINETICS

Students must submit completed bursary application forms to the Student Awards Office, 1st floor, R.D. Parker Building. A Bursary application forms can be printed using Adobe Acrobat. Unless otherwise, specified, only one bursary application forms is required for all bursaries.

The School of Human Kinetics Bursaries

  • Requirements: Donated by the faculty, staff, and students of the School of Human Kinetics.
    Full-time students entering the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a program in the School of Human Kinetics, on the basis of financial need, satisfactory academic achievement and Ontario residency as defined by OSAP. Selection is made on the recommendation of the program coordinators and the chair of the school. Application required.
  • Value: $500/ea

The Outdoor Adventure Leadership Bursary

  • Requirements: The bursary is awarded annually to a student enrolled in the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Programme. It is designed to assist a full-time student who demonstrates qualities of leadership, initiative enthusiasm, adaptability and maturity. The student is physically fit and preferably able to speak French and English. The applicant must demonstrate financial need. Selection of the recipient will be based on the recommendation of the Coordinator of the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Programme. Application required.

The Dr. Robert (Bob) Jensen Bursary

  • Requirements: Established by family and friends, the Dr. Robert (Bob) Jensen Bursary is awarded to a student in the Human Kinetics program, or any year of any program, can demonstrate financial need. Application is required.
  • Value: variable

John McIlwain Memorial Bursary

  • Requirements: Established by family and friends. The purpose of this award is to provide financial assistance to aid a student of Laurentian University who is enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year the School of Human Kinetics program. The recipient must have a minimum average of 75%. A brief letter (less than 1 page) indicating their involvement in laboratory work or research work within the School of Human Kinetics. The ideal recipient will demonstrate commitment to the School of Human Kinetics labs and a passion for learning and helping others learn through laboratory experiences. (i.e. volunteer in the labs assisting the technicians with lab demonstrations; independent study in the labs; lab internship; volunteers to help with high school tours of the labs). Application is required.
