Students must fill out application forms for in-course scholarships (2nd, 3rd and 4th year) where specified. These are available to download from this website. These are awarded on academic merit and financial need where specified, or both. Unless otherwise specified, application deadline is June 1 of each year. Not all awards need to be awarded each year. The University may withdraw any award for which, in any year, no qualified applicant is found. In order that scholarships and bursaries may be equitably distributed, the committee reserves the rights to restrict the value of scholarships that any one student may receive. The committee also avoids the awarding of multiple scholarships wherever possible. L.U. In-Course Scholarships
- Requirements: Student must be included on the Deans’ Honour List; have completed a minimum 30 credits in the previous academic year (September to April); not have graduated and register for full-time studies.
- Scholarships are renewable for a maximum of three years.
- Value: 80 - 84.9% = $1,000
85 - 89.9% = $2,000
90 - 94.9% = $2,500
95 - 100% = $3,500

The F. Jean MacLeod Conservation Endowment Scholarships

Requirements: Students entering the 4th year of a Geography or Earth Science (B.A.) program, based on the funds generated by the endowment. The students must achieve a min. 75% specialization average and a min. 70% overall average in the previous year

Students must pursue conservation/environmental studies by enrolling in either GEOG 4985 or GEOG 4995.

Donated by the F. Jean MacLeod Trust to commemorate the late F. Jean MacLeod's abiding interest in the natural environment of Sudbury, to recognize academic achievement in Geography and environmental studies and to promote undergraduate research in conservation.
Women's Association of the Mining Industry of Canada (WAMIC) - Foundation Bursary

Requirements: Established by Women’s Association of the Mining Industry of Canada (WAMIC) Foundation to encourage students to work or pursue a career in the geosciences industry. The purpose of this award is to provide an award to cover a minimum of $1,000 towards tuition to aid students of Laurentian University who are enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Earth Science, Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences, Bachelor of Engineering (Mining and Chemical), or Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies (once approved). The bursary will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence, minimum 85%, Application is required.
