The deadline to apply for the first “+1” of the 3+1+1 program is January 31, 2013.

Program description

The 3+1+1 program combines the completion of 3 years of undergraduate studies at participating Chinese universities, with the completion of one year of studies at Laurentian University (LU) towards the completion of an undergraduate degree from the home university in China.  The second “+1” represents the completion of one year of Master of Business Administration (MBA) studies at LU towards the MBA degree.

LU currently has a 3+1+1 agreement with the following universities that offer the CGA Program of Professional Studies:

• Soochow University
• Capital University of Economics and Business
• Harbin University of Commerce

Admission to the first “+1” – H.B.Com

Students from participation universities in China may apply to LU as a “visiting” student to complete courses that would count towards their Chinese undergraduate degree. 

Minimum degree average

Applicants must have a minimum 75% average in their studies (for the first 2.5 years in their studies in China) in order to be admitted.

Language requirements

Students may choose to complete a language test in order to be admitted to the first “+1” or may complete the English Summer EAP Program.  The minimum standards for the language tests are:

• IELTS score of 6.5 or higher; or
• TOEFL score of 88 or higher

As the IELTS score is more reliable, students are strongly encouraged to follow this route to achieve the language requirement. 

The English Summer EAP program (four weeks in August) is available as an option to all students of the 3+1+1 program to help strengthen their language skills prior to entry into the first “+1” or help them achieve their language requirements.

Admission to the second “+1” – MBA

Students of the 3+1+1 program will be required to submit an application to the MBA program by January 31^st during the completion of the first “+1” program. Review of the application documents are completed in February and March of each year. Admission decisions to the MBA are communicated as early as possible for students to successfully complete their VISA renewal.

Students of the 3+1+1 program are required to have the following credentials to apply to the MBA program:

• Four-year undergraduate degree from a participating university;
• An 80% minimum average (based on the academic outcomes of the Laurentian University courses or the home university courses);
• Successful completion of the CGA Foundation Studies and the Advanced level of the CGA Program of Professional Studies;
• Strong letters of references; and
• Application letter from the student.

Note: Students may choose to write the GMAT in order to strengthen their application.
