In an effort to ensure the preservation of their records and to facilitate access to these, the Anglican Diocese has deposited their records at the Laurentian University Archives.  We provide access under the policies and conditions stipulated by the Diocese of Moosonee.

The records deposited in the archives are from the Synod Office and parishes of the Diocese.

Until further notice, all of the records from the Synod Office of the Anglican Diocese of Moosonee fonds and parish records are restricted of access.  The fonds are closed to all while the Archives respond to the document production requirements of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.  We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.

The Synod Office records consist of administrative records created, accumulated and used by the Synod Office in the course of their activities. The records attest to the role and activities of the Synod Office and they document the history of the diocese.

Parochial Records

There are 69 parishes in the Diocese of Moosonee for which we have records. It mainly consists of documents that were produced, received, and accumulated by the parishes

Record Requests

Archives staff will provide assistance with research services; however we are unable to commit to more than two hours of our time for such research. As an alternative, we can provide you with names of freelance researchers who, for an hourly fee, could do the research for you. Although we provide you with names of researchers, it is your responsibility to negotiate the agreement with him or her. LU Archives is not responsible for the research done by the researchers.
