SUDBURY, ON - Laurentian Athletics is proud to announce that Voyageurs soccer player, Heather Gilbert (Newmarket, ON) has been named the Perkins Female Athlete of the Week.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gilbert, the 1^st year Kinesiology student, was a defensive rock this past week.  Tuesday, against Nipissing, Gilbert helped steady the ship after some tense moments in the second half to secure the tie.  This weekend, at Ryerson and Toronto, Gilbert was her steady self once again as she helped turn away attack after attack, guiding the Voyageurs to a 4 point weekend and a pair of clean-sheets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gilbert and her Voyageurs are back in action Saturday afternoon as they host Queen’s in their home opener at 12pm before RMC comes to town on Sunday at noon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SUDBURY, ON - Laurentian Athletics is proud to announce that Voyageurs soccer player, Cameron Brooks (Whitby, ON) has been named Perkins Male Athlete of the Week.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brooks, the 4^th year SPAD student, has been a steady force for the Voyageurs back line all season.  Brooks’ stalwart play has led the Voyageurs to second place in the OUA East after a 4 point week.  Tuesday against Nipissing, Brooks stymied every Lakers attack, leading a 1-0 win.  On Saturday against Ryerson, Brooks helped the back line withstand a barrage of Ryerson attacks as the Rams pelted the Voyageurs net with 11 shots and 17 corner kicks as the Rams eventually pulled out a 2-0 win with a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes.  Sunday, against Toronto, Brooks helped the team defend against the Varsity Blues’ constant pressure before allowing the tying goal in the 88^th minute.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brooks and his Voyageurs are back in action Saturday afternoon as they host Queen’s in their home opener at 2:15pm before RMC comes to town on Sunday at 2:15pm.
