SUDBURY, ON - Laurentian Athletics is proud to announce that Lady Vees swimmer, Emily Jones (Orangeville, ON) has been named the Perkins Female Athlete of the Week.
Jones, the 4th year SPED student, was the lone athlete for the Voyageurs in the pool at the CIS Swimming Championships. In the 50m backstroke, Jones notched a 10th place finish in a time of 29.47 seconds. In the 100m backstroke Jones reeled in a second 10th place finish in a time of 1:02.68.
Jones will now hit the books for the final month of school as her season has come to an end.
SUDBURY, ON - Laurentian Athletics is proud to announce that Voyageurs Nordic skier, Petri Bailey (Thunder Bay, ON) has been named Perkins Male Athlete of the Week.
Bailey, the 3rd year Radiation Therapy student, led the Voyageurs at the OUA Championships in Thunder Bay this past weekend. After finishing 26th in the freestyle race Saturday morning, Bailey skied the middle leg of the relay in the afternoon, guiding the team to a 6th place finish.
Sunday saw Bailey post the best result of any Laurentian skier, an 11th place finish in the classical race.
Bailey will now focus on his studies for the final month of school as the Championships marks the end of the OUA Nordic season.
