Honours Diploma in Sociology (30 cr.)

 

The Honours Diploma program has been developed for graduates of the 3year general B.A. who wish to pursue further studies in Sociology.

 

To be admitted:

    • successfully complete a general B.A. in Sociology, with a minimum 70% overall average in required SOCI courses.
    • Minimum of 30 upperyear credits in Sociology
    • The program of study must be approved by the department chair and meet the equivalent requirements of a 4year specialized B.A. in Sociology.

 

Qualifying Year

    • A qualifying year is required for students with a 3year B.A. in Sociology (or the equivalent) who want to pursue a graduate program at Laurentian or other universities.
    • Admission preference is given to students with a minimum concentration average of 70% and an overall average of at least 60%.
    • The qualifying year consists of a minimum of 30 credits (5 full courses).
    • Normally, the program of study will include SOCI 4095 and at least 9 additional credits from the 4000 series of SOCI courses, and must be planned in consultation with the academic advisor.
