Program Requirements

The admission requirements will generally provide advanced standing for the first 30 credits of the 60-credit MBA degree program. The balance of the degree program (30 credits) is through completion (online) of the following:

Graduate students must achieve an overall average of 70% on all MBA courses taken at Laurentian University and have a minimum of 60% in each course.

 

In order to be awarded the MBA degree, students must also complete the requirements for the CGA designation and be eligible for admission to CGA membership.

 

 

Note 1: An MBA student with 6 credits of university course work with a minimum grade of 70%, assessed by Laurentian as equivalent to one or more of the following core courses: COMM-5305 - Marketing Management, COMM-5405 - Organizational Behaviour and Processes, COMM-5605 - Operations Management, must replace the core course(s) credits with an equal number of credits from an MBA elective course(s) as follows: COMM-5305 - Marketing Management must be replaced with COMM-6305 - Global Marketing Strategy; COMM-5405 - Organizational Behaviour and Processes must be replaced with COMM-6405 - Leading by Design; and COMM-5605 - Operations Management must be replaced with a course of the student’s choice from the Electives list.

 

Note 2 : LU/CGA PACE Joint Course(s) completed prior to admission into the MBA program cannot be applied to the MBA. MBA students may complete other LU/CGA PACE Joint Courses (not previously completed) or a course of their choice from the Electives list. Students need to ensure they enrol in the LU/CGA PACE Joint Course(s) with their CGA association.

 

Note 3: |COMM-4405|: Humanist Issues in Commercial Practice is an upper-year undergraduate course. It may only be taken for MBA credit by students who have already completed COMM-6305 - Global Marketing Strategy, COMM-6405 - Leading by Design, COMM-6915 - Research Methods in Management and require an additional elective. It may not be taken for MBA credit if any of the LU/CGA PACE Joint Courses (also upper year undergraduate courses) have been completed for MBA credit. Students with a BAccS from the University of Calgary are not allowed to register in this course. Further information on this course is available on the H.B.Com site.

 

Note 4: An MBA student may not complete more than 6 credits of COMM 4000 electives towards the MBA program.

 

Note 5: In order for the PACE course to count towards the MBA degree program requirements, students must ensure that they enrol in the LU/CGA Joint PACE course with their CGA association at the time they enrol in the course.
