WorkstudyAnother important component of Laurentian University's awards program is the Work Study Program. Work Study is designed to create part time on-campus jobs that provide students with valuable career and academic experience, while helping them meet the cost of their studies. Students must submit completed work study application forms to the Student Awards Office, 1st floor, R.D. Parker Building. Please download the Work Study Application form from lunet.
While we cannot guarantee employment, the Career and Employment Centre on campus will be pleased to assist you with your job search. Please contact the Career and Employment Centre for further information.
OSAPStudents who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants, who have been residents in Ontario for one year prior to beginning their studies and meet admission requirements of a Canadian university or an eligible post-secondary institution in Ontario, may apply for financial assistance from OSAP.
A student qualifies for OSAP on basis of an established financial need; funds are provided to supplement a student's own financial resources and those of his or her immediate family. A student who intends to pay tuition fees with government loans should have applied to OSAP before end of June of each year. If an application is forwarded after this date, it is likely that funds will not be available in time for payment of registration. In this case, students are required to cover first installment payment of tuition fees with their own resources.
Information and application forms are available at http://osap.gov.on.ca/ or from Student Awards Office, Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario P3E 2C6.
Course Withdrawals and Changes
If you withdraw from or fail a course(s), your OSAP entitlement will be reduced and this may result in an overpayment. If you incur an overaward, you may be restricted from OSAP, and you will be required to repay the loan overpayment in full in order to apply to OSAP in subsequent terms (even if you change institutions or return to study several years later). Consult the Student Awards Office before you withdraw from a course.
Full Time Status
If you're taking 60% (9 credits) or more of a full course load, please follow the following instructions. A person with a disability is a full-time student if he/she is taking at least 40% (6 credits) of a full course load.
In order to qualify for either Canada or Ontario student loans, you must register in and maintain a minimum course load of 60% in each term of study for which you are requesting assistance. In other words, you must be registered in 3 courses (or 9 credits) per term. For OSAP calculation purposes, a 6 credit September to April course is considered 3 credits in the 1st term an 3 credits in the 2nd term.

What do I do with my Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA)?
1. Review
Your MSFAA is a legally binding agreement so review it carefully and read the terms and conditions. Make sure you check your personal information to ensure it is correct. If any information is incorrect, write the changes on the MSFAA and put your initials next to the changes. If your Social Insurance Number is incorrect, contact your provincial student-aid office because a new MSFAA will need to be issued.
2. Complete
Enter your bank account information in the appropriate section on the front page of your MSFAA (contact your bank or credit union if you need help) or write “VOID” across the front of a personal cheque and enclose it with your agreement.
3. Sign
Once you're sure that all the information is correct and you have read, understood and accepted the terms and conditions, sign your agreement. You must sign your MSFAA in order to receive funding by electronic fund transfer.
4. Submit
Take your signed MSFAA to a designated Canada Post Outlet with two pieces of appropriate identification. Canada Post will verify your identity then forward your MSFAA to the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) for processing. Don’t delay. Submit your MSFAA as soon as possible to ensure your loan is processed in time for the start of your studies.
