Academic Programs

Program Requirements

Program requirements of the first “+1”

Students must complete 21 credits of LU courses in the fall and winter sessions (September 2013 to April 2014). The selection of courses is critical in this academic year in order to reduce the required number of credits at the MBA level.

The H.B.Com coordinator will be required to verify the participating Chinese university’s transcript to determine which courses each student may need to complete at the MBA level. Students will require the following undergraduate courses with a minimum 70% average in order to receive the maximum advanced standing at the MBA level.

  • Statistics
  • Management Science
  • Financial Accounting
  • Management Accounting
  • Financial Management
  • Economics (Micro and Macro)

If students do not have 70% in these courses on their transcripts, they should be recommended to complete equivalent LU courses.

Students will not be allowed to complete COMM 2036, 2037, 2046, 2047, 2056 or 2057 during the first “+1”. If there are no options for students, COMM 2055 online may be permitted.

Students may opt to enroll in the non-credit Workplace Communication Skills in Canada course (COMM 0513) which runs on Friday’s beginning the week following reading week in October to mid-April each academic year.

Students, who fail a course in the first semester, must replace that course with another option in the winter session or through the online degree program options.

Additional elective options:

COMM-4057 - The Business Environment

COMM-4076 - International Business Management

COMM-4227 - Investment Management

COMM-4237 - Administration des institutions financières

COMM-4247 - Portfolio Management

Program requirements of the “+1.5” - MBA

Students following the 3+1+1.5 program will be required to complete courses equivalent to those in the 4+1 degree program plus any other courses that they may not have received advanced standing for.

COMM-5306 - Introduction to Marketing

COMM-5406 - Organizational Behaviour
