Overview

Biology is the science of life which comprises all aspects of form, function, evolution, behaviour, origin and distribution of plants, animals and micro-organisms, and includes every living thing, from humans to viruses. Laurentian’s northern location (near areas affected by industries like forestry and mining and used for hunting and trapping), and the expertise of the faculty, allow students to specialize in one of these four options after completing a common first year. Laurentian also offers a three-year general degree in biology.

MATH 1036 – Calculus I**

MATH 1037 – Calculus II or MATH 1057 – Linear Algebra I

PHYS 1006 – Introductory Physics I + lab

* Students without grade 12 U-level chemistry or the equivalent must take CHMI 1041 – Chemical Concepts prior to CHMI 1006/7 – General Chemistry

** Students with a grade of 60% or less in grade 12 U-level Calculus or the equivalent must take MATH 1912 – Elementary Calculus prior to MATH 1036 – Calculus I *** Students wishing to pursue the Biomedical Biology option should take either:

PSYC 1105 – Introduction to Psychology or ANTR 1006 – Anthropology I and ANTR 1007 – Anthropology II
