The Département d’études françaises offers courses designed to meet the specific needs of two linguistic groups, with different programs for French-speaking (Études françaises) and English-speaking (French) students. Mindful of its unique and central role within Laurentian University and French-speaking communities of Sudbury, the department supports and promotes services and activities to improve the linguistic and cultural life of Francophones. The department’s programs also encourage staff and students to become involved in theatre, poetry and various festivals.
• Three and four-year (Honours) programs lead to a Bachelor of Arts in French
• Students must take a placement test to evaluate their level of French
• Courses cover French literature, language, linguistics and culture
• Information on programs for Francophones – see Études françaises
