Overview

• Mechanical engineering is a profession concerned with devices (machines) that perform a variety of tasks involving mechanical work and energy conversion; this includes the conversion of chemical, solar, nuclear or hydraulic energy into mechanical work through various engines and power plants

• In addition to the general mechanical engineering degree, students may take an option in mechatronics in third and fourth year

• Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary field combining mechanical, electrical, computer and systems engineering with the main objective of designing integrated intelligent systems

** Students with a grade of 60% or less in Grade 12 U-level calculus or the equivalent must take MATH 1912 – Elementary Calculus to MATH 1036– Calculus I

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements based on Grade 12 4U/M courses:

• 1 English

• 1 physics

• 1 chemistry

• 1 advanced functions

• 1 of: calculus and vectors, biology, earth & space science or analyzing current economic issues

• 1 other course

• Minimum average of 70%
