Overview

The Radiation Therapy program teaches students about the treatment of cancer and other diseases using radiation in the form of x-rays, gamma rays and electrons. Radiation therapists work as a vital part of a cancer treatment team to administer the prescribed radiation treatment with care, compassion and respect.

First-year course overview

• PHYS 1006 – Introductory Physics I
• PHYS 1007 – Introductory Physics II
• CHMI 1006 – Chemistry I 
• CHMI 1007 – Chemistry II 
• MATH 1036  – Calculus I
• MATH 1037 – Calculus II or MATH 1057 – Linear Algebra
• BIOL 2105  – Human Anatomy and Physiology
• BIOL 1506 – Biology I
• + Radiation Therapy Elective (3 cr)

Admission Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Direct Entry Applicants

Ontario Secondary School Diploma

1. Minimum of 6 U level courses including:

• 4U English
• 4U Physics
• 4U Chemistry
• 4U Biology
• 1 4U advanced Functions (MCV4U is also strongly recommended)
• 1 Other course

2. A minimum overall average of 70% [Please note that although the minimum overall average is 70%, the average academic average amongst those accepted for September 2013 intake is approximately 87%.]

 

Admission Interview

For consideration of admission to the program, applicants that meet the OUAC requirements will be considered for an interview. The interview will be conducted by staff from Laurentian University, The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences and the Northeast Ontario Regional Cancer Centre. Those applicants who are successful in the interview will be considered for admission. Interviews for the 2013 September intake are expected to occur in February/March 2013. (Date to be announced)
