Game Recap:

SUDBURY, ON – After a slow start, the Laurentian Voyageurs found their rhythm against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday night and cruised to a 20 point victory, 98-78.  The win saw five Voyageurs reach double digits as they showcased their depth on offence.

The first half was a back and forth sloppy affair that saw both teams struggle to shoot the ball.  Alex Hill and Arun Kumar were the only bright spots for the Varsity Blues as they scored 15 and 13 points respectively in the first half while the rest of the team only managed seven points combined.  The Voyageurs were led by Georges Serresse and Manny Pasquale who had nine points each.  After 20 minutes the Varsity Blues led 35-34.

The second half saw Voyageurs find their stride as they exploded for 37 points in the 3rd quarter alone.  The Varsity Blues tried to keep pace but with Hill and Kumar the only players able to score more than 5 points in the game, the lead became insurmountable.  The Voyageurs never let off the gas and even those off the bench made strong contributions in the 98-78 win.

Hill led the Blues with 31 points and 11 boards in the contest while Kumar poured in 25 in the losing effort.  For the Voyageurs, it was Pasquale leading the way with 26 points while Serresse chipped in with 25 and 12 rebounds.  Also in double digits for the Voyageurs was Alex Ratté with 15, Josh Budd with 13 and Tychon Carter-Newman with 11.

The Voyageurs look to continue their winning ways as they head to Ottawa next weekend to take on the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees as they push for a home playoff game in the very tight OUA East conference.
