OTTAWA, ON – With leading scorer Sasha Polishchuk absent through injury, the Laurentian Lady Vees fell subject to a thrashing at the hands of the Ottawa Gee Gees. At the final whistle, the score line read 87-43 in favour of the Gee Gees.
In a game where the Vees were unable to generate any form of offensive threat, they were left open to the Ottawa assault. The Vees shot just 24%, with Emma Decloe leading the stats sheet with 7 points and 6 rebounds. The absence of Sasha Polishchuk has had an impact on the performance of the Vees, with them greatly missing her contribution on both ends of the court. The Vees competed well against the Gee Gees throughout the first, only behind by 7 points. But it was the second half that truly hurt the Vees, where they were out score 37-17. At the end of a long night, the Vees left Montpetit Hall on the wrong end of an 87-43 score line.
This defeat led the Vees record to slip to 5-9 with a tough game coming up against the Carleton Ravens. The Vees will need to muster up greater scoring efficiency if they are looking to compete throughout the closing stages of the season and find the scoring that has led to some excellent victories throughout the season.
