TORONTO, ON – The Laurentian Lady Vees road troubles continued this weekend as the fell to the Ryerson Rams. The Rams controlled much of the game, and emerged winners by a score of 64-47.
In a much anticipated rematch of their previous encounter, the Lady Vees travelled to Toronto to take on the Ryerson Rams. In the last meeting, the Vees edged the Rams in a highly enjoyable affair. This time, the tables were turned, and the stronger Rams showed their dominance. The Vees suffered from inefficient shooting for a vast majority of the game, shooting just 5/23 from 3-point range. This inefficiency killed the Vees chances of keeping the game close, and the Rams exploited this weakness despite only shooting 32% themselves. At the half, the Rams held a 34-27 lead.
The second half brought more scrappy play from both teams, with neither team really finding their fluidity. Mary Scott played a stellar game for the Vees, with 11 points and 7 rebounds. This performance was topped only by Emma Decloe, who was able to rack up 13 points and 8 rebounds. Star shooter Sasha Polishchuk played just 19 minutes, and acquired just 4 points as she still seeks to find her form upon her return from injury. As the game progressed, the Rams continued to expand their lead, and when the final whistle blew they emerged the winners by a score of 64-47.
The Vees now head home to take on the Queens Gaels on February 8th, at 6.00pm. All are encouraged to come support the Vees as they look to regain their form of old.
