Laurentian athlete and alumni selected for canada summer games track and field team

Game Recap:

A runner from the Laurentian cross-country/track team has been named to the team that will represent Ontario at the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on August 11th. She was selected as a result of her performance at the Summer Games Trials in Windsor.

 

Katie Wismer will compete in the 2000m steeplechase and the 5000m. Wismer won the steeplechase in Windsor with a personal best time of 7:06.77.

 

Laurentian running alumni, Emma Tallman will compete in the 800m.  She placed 2nd in the 800m at the trials with a personal best times of 2:10.43, and 3rd in the 1500m with a 4:31.10. Tallman recently improved her personal best at the 'London 1500m Night' with a blazing 4:29.11 Tallman, a Laurentian running grad, continues to represent Track North although she is now based in London while completing her physiotherapy degree.

 

Also at the trials were Laurentian recruit, Ashley Huard, who set a personal best in the 200m with a time of 24.72, placing 6th. She also placed 5th in the 100m with a time of 12.11. Laurentian jumper, Alicia Violin, placed 8th in the triple jump with a leap of 11.00m and 13th in the long jump with a distance of 4.85m.
