Game Recap:

The Men’s Soccer Team was looking for redemption coming into their game against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday. Despite taking the lead later in the second, the Voyageurs were unable to take away three points from the Blues, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.

The first half saw an equal amount of possession between both teams, however Toronto was able to produce a greater number of scoring opportunities. With the exception of a shot from Cam Coulter (Sault Ste Marie, ON) hitting the crossbar around the 25th minute mark, the Blues controlled the majority of the play throughout the first half. Laurentian goaltender Thomas Guscott (Sudbury, ON) was able to keep the Voyageurs in the game, making many key saves throughout the first 45 minutes of play.

Laurentian elevated their level of play during the second half of the play. The Voyageurs were able to find the back of the net at the 70th minute of play when a cross from the line found Stephen Fattore (Brampton, ON), who buried the ball in the bottom corner. Unfortunately the Voyageurs’ lead was taken away by Nirunthan Sivananthan (Brampton, ON), who put the Blues on the board at the 88th minute. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, leaving Laurentian with a 2-1-1 record.

The men now face the Queens Gaels at home on September 14th at 2:00pm.  Continue to follow your Voyageurs at www.luvoyageurs.com for up-to-date news and results.
