Course Description

Deals with the history of Greece from the 12th century BC to the 3rd century BC. The course focuses on classical Greece; it will examine the transformation and changes experienced in the Greek world, notably the emergence of the city-state and its different forms of government. The course will provide a balanced overview of the political, military, institutional and social history of the period through a close examination of major ancient historians such as Herodotus, Thucydides and Xenophon.
