This course traces the development of social programs in Canada from colonial times to the present day. It analyzes the origins, influences, present forms and relative effectiveness of social programs designed to meet human needs. Specific attention is given to issues related to social inequality, globalization, race, gender, and class. PREREQ: SWLF 1006/1007 or permission of the School Director. (lec 3) cr 3.
