An introduction to the field of addictions. Topics include the licit and illicit use of alcohol and drugs, their regulation in Canada and theories of addiction and addiction treatment. Different treatment approaches are examined including mutual aid/self-help, behavioural change, harm reduction, group methods and gender-based programs.
