Course Description

Prepares students with little or no background in chemistry for CHMI 1202. Topics include: the classification of matter, atomic structure, ionic and covalent bonding with an emphasis on the structure of organic molecules, acid-base equilibria including the role of pH and buffers in the health sciences, nuclear chemistry, nuclear energy, stoichiometry, the mole concept, solutions and chemical equilibria and their roles in the health sciences. No credit for students with an OAC or U level credit in chemistry. Students may not retain credit for more than one of CHMI 1030, 1031 & 1041. PREREQ: grade 12 or department?s permission.
